Mission Raniganj Movie Story
In the deep mines of Rani Ganj, there was a big problem. Many workers were trapped underground because of a mine accident. A smart engineer named Yashvant Singh Gill helped rescue these workers in a special way. There's now a movie called "Operation Rani Ganj" about this brave rescue mission. It came out recently, and people in the coal area are very happy about it. The movie reminds them of that special day.
This all happened on November 11, 1989, at night. People were working deep in the mines, cutting coal. Suddenly, there was an explosion, and the walls of the mine fell down. Water from an old mine nearby also flooded in. Some workers were swept away by this water, and sadly, they didn't make it. Some managed to find a safe place inside the mine, but 65 workers were still stuck there. It was dark, and they didn't have food or water. It was a very dangerous situation. However, there was a working phone line inside the mine, and the workers used it to tell people outside where they were.
Engineers from ECL (Eastern Coalfields Limited) worked hard to find their location from above ground. They drilled a hole down to the trapped workers on November 13. Through this hole, they sent down food and water. A special rescue team came from Dhanbad. But the question was, how could they rescue the workers from the flooded mine? It seemed impossible. That's when Yashvant Gill, a mining engineer, came up with an idea. He suggested using capsules to bring the workers up through the hole. They made these capsules on November 14.
From the night of November 15, many people gathered in the Narayankuri area of Rani Ganj. The capsules were ready. But nobody wanted to go down because it was very risky. The capsules could get stuck, and there might be poisonous gas inside the mine. Yashvant Gill said, "I'll go first." He went down in the capsules, and one by one, all 65 workers were safely brought up during the night. When the morning of November 16 came, Yashvant Gill was the last one to come up. He made sure everyone was safe. This news became famous all over the country.
The Chief Minister of the state, West Bengal at that time, Jyoti Basu, came to congratulate Mr. Gill and ask about the workers' health. Yashvant Gill was called a "National Hero." Sadly, he passed away three years ago in Punjab. The movie "Operation Rani Ganj" tells the story of this rescue mission, and people in the coal area are excited to watch it.
Mission Raniganj Movie Review
Just like the movie 'Rustom,' director Tinu Suresh Desai made a film called 'Mission Raniganj' in a similar style. The first part of the movie is exciting because it's set in space, and you always wonder what will happen next. But after the thrilling part, the story focuses on people's feelings and emotions. The emotions in the movie are strong, but some parts of the technical stuff could have been better.
The special effects for the wild scenes and the coal mine set don't look very good. It would have been nice to have more dialogue in this kind of film. If the director had told us more about Yashwant Gill's character, it would have made the movie better.
The music with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas and songs by Arko are nice. The cinematography by Sandip Shiradkar and the background music are also good.
Akshay Kumar plays Yashwant Gill in his usual style. He's ready to do anything to make his character strong, just like in his other movies. As the movie goes on, his Sardar character becomes more believable and likable. But Parineeti Chopra, who plays the female lead, doesn't get much screen time.
Even though Parineeti is not in the movie much, the other actors in supporting roles are great. Especially, Kumud Mishra, Jamil Khan as an animal, Ravi Kishan in a funny role, and Pavan Malhotra as a technician give memorable performances. Other familiar faces like Bachan Pachera, Sudhir Pandey, Mukesh Bhatt, and Ongkar Das Manikpuri also add excitement and emotion to the film.
Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma, and Shishir Sharma do well in their smaller roles too. If you like movies based on real events and stories and are a fan of Akshay Kumar, you can watch this movie.
